Inspired by Thomas Lea's "The Two Thousand Yard Stare," this take on the American Revolution's Battle of Bunker Hill shows the battle from an unusual perspective- that of a common British soldier. All too often, portrayals of 18th Century warfare portray a highly sanitised version of events, focusing on the glory of the battlefield. But even if the soldiers of this era were wearing colourful uniforms and marching in orderly lines...warfare is a dirty, hellish affair. This piece reflects that reality, and reminds the viewer that it must never be forgotten. Portrayed is a private of the 38th Regiment of Foot, as they partook in the third and final assault on rebel positions on Breeds Hill.
