The Corpse War of 1793

A Soldier's Account

Our first Fiction Novel!

"The Corpse War of 1793" is set during a zombie outbreak in 18th Century Britain. Written to feel like a soldier's memoir or narrative, such as those of Joseph Plumb Martin or Bejamin Harris, the story will take readers on a chaotic journey from the initial undead outbreak, through the fall of an army garrison, and ultimately end in a large, bloody battle on open field.

Why Historical Fiction?

By being written in the style of a soldier's memoir, we hope that this story will help to drive a different kind of popular interest in the history of the Long 18th Century, and encourage individuals to read from more primary sources directly.

This story will also introduce readers to various historical themes including the technology, organisation, and tactics of the British army, as well as the wider culture of the era.

Project Status:

FULLY FUNDED &
First Draft in Finishing Stages

The book has been fully funded within 36 hours via Kickstarter!
The extraordinary level of support for the project ensures not only our ability to commission a full series of hand-made artwork for the book, but also to hire professional editors to ensure it retains the highest possible quality.

As additional funding becomes available we will also seek to hire an audiobook narrator, and to pay for additional promotion for the book.

The first draft of the novel is nearly finished.  Afterwards, it will undergo the first stage of editing before moving to a professional editor, and then subject to a second stage of edits.  Then it will be sent to a series of carefully selected beta readers, before a final stage of editing prior to final release.

Our current estimates for the final project release are in May of 2025.
